updates for this tax season

Check out some important dates to remember for this tax season.

Tax Season starts January 23, 2023

The IRS has set the official tax season start date to January 23, 2023.

This is the date that the IRS will begin accepting tax returns.

Deadline is April 18, 2023

The filing deadline to submit 2022 tax returns or an extension to file and pay tax owed is Tuesday, April 18, 2023, for most taxpayers.

You should have received IRS Notice 1444 for the first Economic Impact Payment, and we are mailing Notice 1444-B for the second Economic Impact Payment.  Refer to them when completing your 2020 tax return. If eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit, you will use the information from these letters to determine the amounts to include on the Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet or in your tax preparation software to help you calculate your credit amount.

Extensions will be given until October 16, 2023.

If you need an extension to file your taxes, you must request it by April 18, 2023.

The IRS will then extend your time to file until October 16, 2023.
