HOW DO I file?

What to do if your boss doesn't report your income

Figuring out how much money you made in 2022 is most of the work.

If your boss paid you under the table, they probably didn’t give you a tax form that tells you what you made.

Here’s how you can file:

File (without getting your boss in trouble)

Add up what you made in 2022. It’s better if you have some kind of receipt.

You can report what you were paid as “Miscellaneous Income” on your taxes. This won't get your boss in trouble.

Here are some of the benefits of reporting cash.

Don't report

If your employer didn’t report, then the IRS may not know about the money you earned.

However, you run the risk of getting in major trouble if the IRS finds out you earned money. You also miss out on the other benefits of filing.
